Correction of the google map import that doesn’t work anymore

Due to a change of API on Google Map the Google Map import of Sketchup may block, so operations like geolocation, Google Earth import or link with Street View will also be blocked.

Here is how to fix the problem, this patch works for Sketchup Pro and for Sketchup Make.

On PC:

Just update to sketchup 8 or sketchup 2013.
You can do it by clicking here

On Mac

Depending on the OS, the update may be sufficient.
You can do it by clicking here

Dans le cas contraire voici la démarche pour corriger le problème :

 For Sketchup8:

  1. Get the attached file (“Sketchup8.zip”)
  2. Unzip the zip file by double clicking on it.
  3. In the “sketchup8” folder that appeared there is a corrected version of the “sketchup.dat” file.
  4. Go to finder, open machintosh hd, go to library, go to application support-sketchup-sketchup8.
  5. In this folder there is a file “sketchup.dat”, replace it with the version we unzipped in steps 2 and 3.
  6. The next time you start Sketchup the patch will take effect.

For sketchup 2013:

  1. Get the attached file (“Sketchup2013.zip”)
  2. Unzip the zip file by double clicking on it.
  3. In the “sketchup8” folder that appeared there is a corrected version of the “sketchup.dat” file.
  4. Go to application-sketchup 2013.
  5. Right-click (or click+ctrl) on the sketchup application and choose the “show package contents” option
  6. Open the contents-ressource-content folder, in this folder there is a file “sketchup.dat”, replace it with the version we unzipped in steps 2 and 3
  7. The next time you start Sketchup the patch will take effect.

And now everything should be back in order.
